Unexpected, economical, immediate, beautiful (we think)... BREAK//BREAK emerged from a blast of inspiration in two weeks during summer 2023 vacation.
BREAK//BREAK is about expressing yourself with a lot of inspiration and only what you have around. BREAK//BREAK is almost wholly instrumental and computer-generated. In this day and age, that's not saying a lot, of course... but as such it embodies both a rebuttal to the (over)hyping of pre-digital recording and strict analog setups as well as the modern, auto-tuned vocal slop drawing in today's listeners. LEXANILA figured it was more punk than ever to say "F-it," leave the vocals out, let the computers shine, and let the listener figure out what that all means.
Following this theme, LEXANILA experimented with a weird AI image-generator for the cover, to see how well AI could translate words into art. The result was a flawed image that encapsulated everything quirky about this EP, so we used it. AI could not help but reveal itself as non-human (note the blending of the headphones into the ear, the disappearing microphone, and uneven nose bridge on the glasses).
Did technology serve us well or poorly with BREAK//BREAK? You decide. Thanks for listening.
